| Feature Spotlight: HTML Editor | Choosing The Right Paste |
|
||
| The
response editor built into RFPMonkey.com allows you to store your
entries as either plain text or formatted HTML. When using the
graphical HTML editor there are 3 different ways to Paste content
copied from different sources. It is important to use the right
method.
Use the regular Paste icon when inserting text that is already unformatted or when inserting content whose current formatting you want to preserve exactly. An example of inserting unformatted text would be if you were copying content from a .txt file in NotePad. Copying from another HTML editor would be an example of pasting where you might want to preserve the existing formatting.
Normally, pasting from Microsoft Word is a bad thing. It carries with it all sorts of unwanted formatting code. It might not be visible, but it creates messy HTML under the covers. And although you might be happy with the formatting when you first paste it, it can be more difficult to re-format later if the need arises. RFPMonkey.com's entry editor has a special Paste From Word feature that will preserve basic formatting like bold face and bulleted lists, but cleans up all the extra Word-specific formatting baggage.
Using the Paste Text feature will strip any existing formatting and insert just the plain text. This removes not only the Word-specific formatting mentioned earlier but also such things as bold face, bullets, font sizes, etc. It cleanses the content the same as if you first pasted it into Notepad and then copied it again from Notepad prior to pasting it into RFPMonkey.com. | New White Paper: | RFP Software Selection Criteria | |||
| The
goal of this paper is to help you identify some of the key
considerations when evaluating and selecting a software solution to
improve your RFP quality, effectiveness, and response time. Your goals and needs are unique.
But the following points should help you while you evaluate competing
RFP products. Consider each one; decide how significant each is to
you; and rate solutions accordingly... |
||||
| Quick Tip: | ||||
| Avoid entering and storing your RFP entries with formatting such as specific fonts, colors, etc. Because formatting often varies between one response document and the next, keeping your entries format-less will allow you to insert them into a broader range of documents without having to do re-formatting. | ||||
